What We’re Doing

SkillUp Washington is focused on the following six initiatives:

(1) Increase the number of low income workers who complete postsecondary education.

(2) Research successful college, training, and community based programs and designs that enable students to successfully complete a post secondary credential.

(3) Increase the graduation rate of those who are enrolled in an on ramp or bridge program and wish to continue on to post secondary education.

(4) Research target populations, and the workplace and education challenges and opportunities they face.

(5) Strengthen industry partnerships in order to increase the pool of qualified applicants and people who are ready to work in high demand sectors.

(6) Advocate in order to a) Increase awareness of the need for a coordinated and cohesive approach to increase postsecondary attainment for low-income, working adults, and b) Increase political will to adopt policies and fund programs that support low-income working adults and their transition into postsecondary attainment.
